Comic

What is a comic?

After Scott McCloud comics are:
„to spatial sequences arranged pictures or signs which provide information and/or generate an aesthetic effect with the viewer.“

Very briefly: Comic is an art form where a result of pictures describes a situation, short history or action.
The pictures are often drawn and combined with text or literal speech.

The concept "Comic" was stamped at the end of the 18th century.
At this time many comics which were aimed to be briefly and on humour were printed basically in British joke and caricature sheets.
What doesn’t mean that comics are always amusing.

The well known concept “Manga" was stamped by the woodcut artist Katsushika Hokusai and stands in Japan for comic.

A comic must exist of at least 2 pictures.
Therefore, an illustration, caricature or cartoons which exist only of a picture aren’t comics.
